Sea Shanty Sing-a-Long with Shantyman & Friends

Shantyman and Friends started with the enthusiasm for life, love of the sea and song. Now with added social distancing, we will sing to you - Songs of the Sea, the romance and history of journeys, tragedies and discoveries, along with the stories of the lives of those who sailed upon her mighty seas. Shanties are stories to be told of common folk enduring hard times & good times. Those that were lost and those that returned against all odds.

Shantyman and Friends will entertain you and we encourage you join in. Our sessions will be creative, responding to the crew or hands at hand. It may include Acapella singalongs, call and refrain interspersed with the twinkling of soft Celtic lyrics and instruments; whistle, concertina, and guitar. No experience is necessary, just the wish to share in the nautical adventure of sea salt and spray as we haul the main sail and set the rigging for an evening of fun music, pillage and mayhem.

Friday Tune with Persephone Rose

Persephone Rose brings to light everything that’s been left in dark forgotten corners and hidden under the carpet. The songstress from the Sunshine Coast exhibits piano-driven music with a fine balance of sass and poise.

She's been described as a “powerhouse” and “sweet and sultry,” comparable to the likes of Amy Winehouse, Bishop Briggs, Vera Blue and Joni Mitchell. After completing Bachelor of Popular Music (Honours) at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, she was offered scholarships to Tennant Creek, LA and Nashville for songwriting and performance.

Persephone Rose has performed at the Noosa Original Music Festival, Raw Sounds Fringe Fest, The Ekka, Black Bear Lodge, NightQuarter and Bar 20 (in LA). Persephone is unafraid of vulnerability, captivating her audience with the rawness of her tales woven into songs.
